Biography

Victor Frederick Moore was born on February 24, 1876, in Hammonton, New Jersey. Renowned for his talent, Moore became a celebrated actor, appearing in notable films such as "Swing Time" (1936), "Make Way for Tomorrow" (1937), and "The Seven Year Itch" (1955). His personal life included two marriages: first to Emma Littlefield and later to Shirley Paige. Notably, he kept his marriage to Paige, who was 22 years his junior, a secret for a year and a half, revealing it when he was 67 years old.

Before his film career, Moore spent decades performing alongside his first wife as a vaudeville duo, captivating audiences with their act. In addition to his artistic endeavors, he had a keen interest in real estate, leading to the establishment of the Victor Moore Arcade in Jackson Heights, Queens. This prominent building, which features stores, offices, a bus terminal, and subway access, is bordered by Roosevelt Avenue, Broadway, and 75th Street. The arcade gained cinematic fame when it appeared in Alfred Hitchcock's "The Wrong Man" (1956), showcasing Henry Fonda as he exited the subway.

Victor Moore passed away on July 24, 1962, in East Islip, Long Island, New York, leaving behind a legacy in both the performing arts and real estate.
