Biography
Judy Garland, born Frances Ethel Gumm on June 10, 1922, was a celebrated American actress and singer whose legacy continues to resonate in the entertainment industry. She began her career in vaudeville alongside her sisters, Jimmie and Suzie, before being signed by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, where she starred in over twenty films. Among her most iconic roles were those in nine films with Mickey Rooney and the beloved classic "The Wizard of Oz."
After nearly fifteen years with MGM, Garland embarked on a new chapter in her career, finding renewed acclaim through concert performances and a return to acting in films and television. Her versatility and talent earned her international fame, making her a cherished figure in both musical and dramatic roles.
Garland's numerous accolades reflect her significant contributions to the arts. She was honored with a juvenile Academy Award, a Golden Globe Award, and a Grammy Award, along with a Special Tony Award.
