Biography
Steve Eastin, born on June 22, 1948, is a distinguished American character actor whose extensive career spans over several decades and encompasses more than 150 roles in both film and television.
Hailing from Colorado, Eastin's passion for acting ignited at the tender age of six when he began performing at a local theater. By 16, he had already earned his Actor's Equity card through his performances in two musicals choreographed by the renowned Michael Bennett. He further honed his craft at the University of Northern Colorado, participating in productions at the Little Theater of the Rockies, an institution known for producing notable alumni like Nick Nolte.
Eastin's career took a significant turn when he received a fellowship to teach at the University of Arizona, where he made his Screen Actors Guild debut alongside Clint Eastwood in the film "Joe Kidd." Shortly thereafter, he relocated to Los Angeles in 1974 to deepen his acting pursuits and studied at the Charles Conrad Studio. Inspired by his experiences, he established The Steve Eastin Studio in 1991, promoting a unique approach to acting known as "Choiceless Awareness," encouraging actors to immerse themselves in the moment.
Eastin is celebrated for his memorable performances in films such as "Field of Dreams" (1989), "Con Air" (1997), and "A Man Apart" (2003), often portraying tough characters with underlying warmth. He shared the screen with Leonardo DiCaprio in "Catch Me if You Can" (2002) and has collaborated with esteemed directors like Steven Spielberg and Brian De Palma. His television credits include iconic series like "Little House on the Prairie," "CHiPS," and "L.A. Law," further solidifying his reputation in the entertainment industry.
