Biography
Burr DeBenning (September 21, 1936 – May 26, 2003) was a prominent American actor known for his diverse roles in both film and television. Over the span of his career, he made appearances in nearly 100 productions, showcasing his talent in various genres. Notable film credits include his work in the television films *The House on Greenapple Road*, *Wolfen*, *The Incredible Melting Man*, *A Nightmare on Elm Street: The Dream Child*, *St. Ives*, *Cruising*, and *Love Field*.
On television, DeBenning was a familiar face, featuring in series such as *Custer*, *Matlock*, *Matt Houston*, *Mike Hammer*, *Magnum, P.I.*, *Matt Helm*, *Medical Center*, *McCloud*, *Columbo*, and *Medical Story*. One of his memorable roles was alongside Robert Wagner in the 1971 film *City Beneath the Sea*, where he portrayed a character named "Aquila," notable for his gill-like features. He also made a striking appearance in the war film *Beach Red* (1967).
In the latter part of his career, DeBenning made a cameo in the music video for The Avalanches' popular song "Frontier Psychiatrist" in 2000. He passed away in California at the age of 66 due to undisclosed causes, leaving behind a legacy as a versatile character actor.
