Luca Bercovici

Biography

Luca Bercovici, a filmmaker with a rich family legacy in the industry, was born in New York City and grew up in diverse locations including London, Rome, New York, and California. He pursued his education at institutions such as College of the Redwoods, Santa Monica College, and Loyola Marymount University. In 1979, Bercovici spent six months in Japan where he served as the Dialogue Director for the miniseries Shogun (1980), collaborating closely with acclaimed Japanese actress Yôko Shimada, a Golden Globe recipient and Emmy nominee.

Upon returning to the U.S., Bercovici embarked on an acting career, appearing in numerous films like American Flyers (1985) alongside Kevin Costner, Clean and Sober (1988) with Michael Keaton, and Pacific Heights (1990) featuring Michael Keaton and Melanie Griffith. He also starred in K2 (1991), Drop Zone (1994) with Wesley Snipes, and the recent Stag Night (2008).

Bercovici's writing career began in 1982, creating series concepts for MGM, which led to a pilot script titled "The Storytellers" for CBS. He co-wrote the screenplay for New Deal, purchased by 20th Century Fox, and made his directorial debut with the successful horror feature Ghoulies (1984), which became the highest-grossing independent film that year. His subsequent projects include Rockula (1990), Dark Tide (1994), The Granny (1995), and several others. Recently, he has completed a four-hour miniseries about a notorious WWII broadcaster, along with two documentaries and multiple music videos.
