Biography

Billie Joe Armstrong, born on February 17, 1972, is a prominent American musician, singer, songwriter, record producer, and actor best known as the lead vocalist and chief songwriter of the influential punk rock band Green Day, which he co-founded with Mike Dirnt. Additionally, Armstrong is involved with the punk rock group Pinhead Gunpowder and lends his vocal talents to Green Day's side projects, including Foxboro Hot Tubs, The Network, The Longshot, and The Coverups.

Growing up in Rodeo, California, Armstrong's passion for music emerged early; he recorded his first song when he was just five years old. At school, he formed a lasting friendship with Dirnt, and together they started a band called Sweet Children at the age of 14, which eventually evolved into Green Day, leading to their significant commercial success.

In 1997, alongside the release of their album *Nimrod*, Armstrong established Adeline Records in Oakland. The label aimed to promote emerging bands, signing notable groups like The Frustrators, AFI, and Dillinger Four. Adeline Records thrived until its closure in August 2017.
