Suzanne Shepherd was a prominent American actress and theater director, celebrated for her compelling performances in both film and television. She garnered acclaim for her role as Karen's overbearing mother in Martin Scorsese's iconic film *Goodfellas* and as Mary De Angelis, Carmela Soprano's mother, in the groundbreaking HBO series *The Sopranos*. Additionally, she made a memorable impression as the assistant principal in the beloved comedy *Uncle Buck*.
Shepherd's foundation in the performing arts was shaped through her studies with renowned acting coach Sanford Meisner, whose techniques she later taught, making her the first woman to instruct in his esteemed program.
