Len Cariou
Biography
Leonard Joseph “Len” Cariou, born on September 30, 1939, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, is a distinguished Canadian actor celebrated for his impactful contributions to theater, film, and television. Cariou rose to fame with his remarkable portrayal of the title character in the original Broadway production of *Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street*, a performance that earned him a Tony Award in 1979. His earlier stage work garnered critical acclaim as well, with nominations for his roles in the musicals *Applause* (1970) and *A Little Night Music* (1973).
In addition to his theatrical accomplishments, Cariou has made significant strides in film, appearing in notable works such as *The Four Seasons* (1981), *Thirteen Days* (2000), *About Schmidt* (2002), *Flags of Our Fathers* (2006), *Prisoners* (2013), and *Spotlight* (2015).
