Biography

Fiona Shaw, born Fiona Mary Wilson on July 10, 1958, is a renowned Irish actress celebrated for her contributions to film and theatre. She has performed extensively with the Royal Shakespeare Company and the National Theatre, gaining acclaim across various media. In 2020, Shaw was recognized as the 29th greatest film actor in Ireland by The Irish Times and was honored with the title of Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) by Queen Elizabeth II in 2001.

Shaw's impressive accolades include winning the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actress twice, in 1990 and 1994, for her performances in "Electra," "As You Like It," "The Good Person of Szechwan," and "Machinal." Additionally, she has received nominations for three other Olivier Awards for her work in "Mephisto," "Hedda Gabler," and "Happy Days." Her Broadway debut came in 2002 with the title role in "Medea," which earned her a Tony Award nomination. She revisited the Broadway stage in 2013 with "The Testament of Mary," written by Colm Tóibín.

In film, Shaw is best known for portraying Petunia Dursley in the Harry Potter series, along with notable roles in "My Left Foot," "Persuasion," and "The Tree of Life."
