Earl Simmons, known to the world as DMX, was born on December 18, 1970, and tragically passed away on April 9, 2021, at the age of 50. An iconic figure in the hip-hop scene, DMX gained prominence in the late 1990s and became a defining voice of his generation. His stage name is a nod to the Oberheim DMX drum machine, a tool he utilized to create his own beats during the 1980s.
DMX's most acclaimed album, ...And Then There Was X, released in 1999, solidified his status as a music powerhouse, featuring the chart-topping single "Party Up (Up in Here)." Beyond music, he made significant contributions to film, appearing in notable movies such as Belly, Romeo Must Die, Exit Wounds, Cradle 2 The Grave, and Last Hour. He also showcased his life and experiences in the reality series Soul of a Man on BET.
In 2002, DMX shared his journey through the pages of his autobiography, E.A.R.L.: The Autobiography of DMX, offering fans a deeper insight into his life.
