Daniel Prévost
Biography
Daniel Prévost, born on October 20, 1939, is a celebrated French actor, comedian, and writer, renowned for his distinctive style and versatile performances. Also known by his birth name, Denis Forestier, he was born to Micheline Chevalier and Mohand Ait Salem, of Berber heritage from Algeria's Kabylie region—a part of his identity he discovered later in life.
Prévost is a proud father to actors Sören, Erling, and Christophe Prévost. His journey into the performing arts began with drama studies in Paris, leading to his theatrical debut alongside notable figures like Michel Serrault in "Un certain M. Blot." He early on collaborated with the whimsical Boby Lapointe and became a favorite of Jean Yanne, marking the start of a fruitful career.
While Prévost's foray into television and film commenced in the 1960s, it was during the 1970s that he achieved widespread recognition through Jacques Martin's satirical show "Le petit rapporteur," which solidified his status in the entertainment industry. He further showcased his talent in Francis Veber's 1998 film "Le Dîner de Cons," where he portrayed a hilariously sinister tax inspector, earning him the César Award for Best Supporting Actor. Daniel Prévost continues to be a significant figure in French cinema, leaving an indelible mark on the industry.
