With sharp wit, it satirizes the working-class dramas of the 1970s and American soaps like Dallas and Dynasty. Eschewing laughter tracks, the show delivers dry humor laced with clever wordplay and cultural critiques. Central to the narrative are two rival families: the wealthy Hardacres, led by the scheming businessman Bradley and his aristocratic wife Lady Patience, and the working-class Fairchilds, headed by the militant "Red" Agnes, who also happens to be Bradley’s mistress.
