Devil's Playground, a lively remake of Frank Capra's Submarine, showcases Richard Dix and Chester Morris in a spirited Columbia production. The story unfolds with submarine officers Dorgan (Dix) and Mason (Morris) vying for the heart of the alluring dance-hall girl Carmen (Dolores del Rio). Although Dorgan eventually wins her hand, Carmen's affections waver towards Mason during her husband's absences. Their romantic entanglement takes a backseat when Dorgan faces a heroic mission to save Mason and his crew trapped in a sunken submarine, compelling them to unite against the peril.
