In "Romancing the Stone," novelist Joan Wilder, known for her enchanting stories of love, finds her own life lacking excitement. Her mundane existence takes a dramatic turn when she receives a mysterious package, which holds the ransom for her kidnapped sister. Determined to rescue her, Joan travels to South America to deliver the money. However, a mix-up leads her to the wrong bus, leaving her lost and alone in the heart of the jungle.
