Lt. Franta Slama, a skilled pilot in the Czech Air Force, takes on the mentorship of the talented Karel Vojtisek, forging a strong bond. Their camaraderie is tested when Nazi Germany invades Czechoslovakia in 1939, prompting them to flee to England and join the RAF alongside fellow Czech exiles. During a mission, Karel crashes and encounters Susan, a young woman whose husband serves in the Navy.
