Shakuntala, the daughter of Meneka and Rishi Vishwamitra, lives in the forest under the guidance of her mentor, Rishi Kanva. There, she encounters King Dushyant, and their instant connection leads to marriage. After giving birth to their son, Prince Bharata, Dushyant departs with a vow to return.
