Ray Collins
Biography
Ray Bidwell Collins (December 10, 1889 – July 11, 1965) was a prominent American character actor known for his extensive work across stock and Broadway theatre, radio, film, and television. With an impressive repertoire of 900 stage performances, he emerged as a leading figure in the burgeoning realm of radio drama.
Collins maintained a close friendship and professional relationship with Orson Welles, which led him to Hollywood as part of the Mercury Theatre company. He made a notable film debut in the classic Citizen Kane, portraying Kane's formidable political adversary.
Throughout his career, Collins appeared in over 75 films and is particularly remembered for his memorable role as the cantankerous Lieutenant Arthur Tragg in the iconic television series Perry Mason.
