Julianne Moore, born Julie Anne Smith on December 3, 1960, is a distinguished American actress and children’s author renowned for her compelling portrayals of complex characters. Since the early 1990s, she has made a significant impact in both independent cinema and mainstream films. Her impressive career has earned her an Academy Award, a British Academy Film Award, two Golden Globe Awards, and two Emmy Awards. In 2015, Time magazine recognized her as one of the 100 most influential people globally, and in 2020, The New York Times named her among the finest actors of the 21st century.
Moore honed her craft at Boston University, launching her career in television with a notable role on the soap opera As the World Turns from 1985 to 1988, where she won a Daytime Emmy Award.
