Biography

Suzu Hirose (広瀬 すず), born on June 19, 1998, in Shimizu-ku, Shizuoka, Japan, has established herself as a prominent actress and model in the Japanese entertainment industry. She gained significant recognition for her portrayal of Suzu Asano in the 2015 film "Umimachi Diary," directed by Hirokazu Kore-eda. In this live-action adaptation of Akimi Yoshida's manga, Hirose's character, a teenage girl who is taken in by her estranged half-sisters after their father's death, captivated audiences and critics alike. Her performance earned her the Japan Academy Prize for "Newcomer of the Year" and the "Best New Actress" award from Kinema Junpo, among other honors. This film also provided her with the opportunity to attend the prestigious Cannes Film Festival, where it was screened for the Palme d'Or competition.

Hirose's career continued to flourish with her lead role as Chihaya Ayase in the film series "Chihayafuru," directed by Norihiro Koizumi. The first installment, "Chihayafuru: Kami no ku," was released in March 2016, followed by "Chihayafuru: Shimo no ku" in April of the same year.
