Donald Lake, born on November 26, 1956, is a versatile Canadian actor, writer, and television producer renowned for his comedic and dramatic contributions to film and television. A frequent collaborator of director Christopher Guest, Lake has established a notable career marked by his engaging performances and strong comedic timing. He shares a close friendship with fellow actress Bonnie Hunt, with whom he has worked on various projects.
Lake garnered acclaim for his role on The Bonnie Hunt Show, earning recognition for his comedic talent. His film career includes memorable appearances in popular comedies such as Police Academy, Hot Shots!, and Dumb & Dumber To, as well as the feature film Corner Gas: The Movie. He has also showcased his range in more serious roles, appearing in iconic films like Terminator 2: Judgment Day and Super Mario Bros. Additionally, he lent his voice to the character Stu Hopps in the animated hit Zootopia, further showcasing his versatility. Fans of classic sitcoms may recognize him as Dr. Carl Whitehorn from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
Lake began his artistic journey at the California Institute of the Arts and later returned to Toronto, where he joined the Second City Touring Company and eventually performed with The Second City.
