Charlie Simpson
Biography
Charles Robert Simpson, born on June 7, 1985, in Ipswich, England, is a talented singer, songwriter, and musician renowned for his dual roles in the music scene. He is best known as a member of the popular rock band Busted, where he serves as the lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist. Additionally, he is the frontman of the British post-hardcore band Fightstar. Notably, AllMusic has remarked that Simpson is “perhaps the only pop star to make the convincing transition from fresh-faced boy bander to authentic hard rock frontman.” His musical prowess extends to multiple instruments, including guitar, bass, keyboard, piano, and drums.
Throughout his career, Simpson has achieved remarkable success with ten top 40 albums on the UK Albums Chart, five of which climbed into the top 10. He has secured four number one singles with Busted and two top 20 hits with Fightstar. Collectively, his ventures have resulted in over five million records sold worldwide, alongside two Brit Awards and nominations for two Kerrang! Awards.
In 2015, he collaborated with his brothers Will and Edd, along with friend Simon Britcliff, to release an EP under the name Once Upon a Dead Man. The following year, Busted reunited, with Simpson returning to the original lineup, leading to an 18-date arena tour that sold out rapidly. Their third studio album, *Night Driver*, debuted in November 2016, followed by the release of their fourth album, *Half Way There*, on February 1, 2019, which reached number two in the UK charts.
