Isaach de Bankolé, born on August 12, 1957, in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, is a prominent Ivorian actor renowned for his diverse and compelling performances. Hailing from Yoruba heritage with roots in Benin and Nigeria, de Bankolé's early life was marked by a rich cultural background.
In 1975, he relocated to Paris to complete his final year of lycée, where his academic pursuits took a turn towards the sciences. He earned a master's degree in physics and mathematics, showcasing his intellectual prowess. Following this, he attended an aviation school and obtained a private pilot's license, reflecting his adventurous spirit.
A serendipitous meeting with French filmmaker Gérard Vergez changed the trajectory of his life, prompting him to pursue acting.
