Biography
Wilfred Bailey Everett Bixby III, widely known as Bill Bixby, was born on January 22, 1934, and left a lasting impact on American television before his passing on November 21, 1993, at the age of 59 due to complications from prostate cancer. Over a career that spanned more than thirty years, Bixby showcased his remarkable talent as an actor, director, and producer, earning recognition for a diverse array of roles.
He first captured audiences' hearts as the charming Tim O'Hara in the CBS sitcom "My Favorite Martian," which aired from 1963 to 1966. Following this, he endeared himself to viewers as Tom Corbett, a widowed father, in the beloved series "The Courtship of Eddie's Father" from 1969 to 1972. Bixby also starred as Anthony Blake, a magician and detective, in the show "The Magician" during 1973-1974.
However, it was his portrayal of Dr. David Banner in the iconic CBS series "The Incredible Hulk" in the late 1970s that solidified his legacy, a role he reprised in several TV movies. In addition to his impressive acting career, Bixby directed numerous episodes across various shows, showcasing his versatility.
