Frances Louise McDormand, born Cynthia Ann Smith on June 23, 1957, is a distinguished American actress known for her exceptional work in film, theater, and television. McDormand's acting journey commenced on stage, leading to her film debut in the 1984 neo-noir thriller *Blood Simple*. Since then, she has built an impressive filmography featuring acclaimed performances in notable films such as *Mississippi Burning* (1988), *Short Cuts* (1993), *Fargo* (1996), and *Nomadland* (2020). Her portrayal of Marge Gunderson in *Fargo* earned her the Academy Award for Best Actress, marking a significant milestone in her career.
