Salvatore Mineo Jr. (January 10, 1939 – February 12, 1976) was a prominent American actor, singer, and director. He is particularly recognized for his portrayal of John "Plato" Crawford in the iconic drama film Rebel Without a Cause (1955), a performance that garnered him an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor. Throughout his career, Mineo featured in a variety of significant films, including Crime in the Streets and Giant, both released in 1956.
