Kelly Brianne Clarkson, born on April 24, 1982, is a multifaceted American artist recognized for her contributions as a singer, songwriter, actress, author, and television personality. She gained nationwide fame by winning the inaugural season of American Idol in 2002, leading to a lucrative record deal with RCA. Her first single, "A Moment Like This," soared to the top of the US Billboard Hot 100, becoming the best-selling single of 2002, and was featured on her debut album, Thankful, released in 2003.

Seeking to redefine her musical style, Clarkson departed from her Idol management and embraced a pop rock sound with her sophomore album, Breakaway (2004).
