Biography

Rebecca Maria Hall, born on May 3, 1982, is a talented English actress and director. She first stepped into the spotlight at the age of 10 with her appearance in the 1992 TV adaptation of The Camomile Lawn, a project helmed by her father, Sir Peter Hall. Her stage career was initiated in 2002 with her father’s production of Mrs. Warren's Profession, a role that earned her the prestigious Ian Charleson Award.

Hall's film career took off in 2006 with her debut in Starter for 10, but her major breakthrough came with Christopher Nolan's 2006 thriller, The Prestige. The following year, she played Vicky in Woody Allen's romantic comedy-drama Vicky Cristina Barcelona, earning a nomination for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress. Hall's diverse filmography includes roles in Ron Howard's historical drama Frost/Nixon (2008), Ben Affleck's crime thriller The Town (2010), the horror film The Awakening (2011), the superhero blockbuster Iron Man 3 (2013), the sci-fi film Transcendence (2014), the psychological thriller The Gift (2015), the fantasy adventure The BFG (2016), the biopic Professor Marston and the Wonder Women (2017), and the monster movie Godzilla vs. Kong (2021). In 2016, her performance as Christine Chubbuck in the biographical drama Christine garnered critical acclaim. Hall also made her directorial debut with the film Passing in 2021, which received favorable reviews.

Additionally, Hall has had significant success in British television, winning a BAFTA for Best Supporting Actress in the 2009 miniseries Red Riding: 1974, and receiving a nomination for Best Actress in 2013 for her role in BBC Two's Parade's End.
