Neva Patterson
Biography
Neva Louise Patterson (February 10, 1920 – December 14, 2010) was a celebrated American character actress known for her versatile performances.
Patterson was born on a farm near Nevada in Story County, Iowa. In 1938, she and her family relocated to New York City, paving the way for her artistic career. She made her Broadway debut in 1947 with a role in The Druid Circle. Her performance in the acclaimed 1952 production of The Seven Year Itch as "Helen Sherman" further solidified her presence in the theater scene. She transitioned to film with her first feature role in the 1953 movie Taxi, and her notable film appearances include The Buddy Holly Story, All of Me, and a memorable role as Cary Grant's fiancée in An Affair to Remember.
On television, Patterson showcased her talent in several popular series, including Nichols alongside James Garner, and The Governor & J.J. with Dan Dailey. She is also remembered for her role as Eleanor Dupres in the science-fiction miniseries V, which she reprised in its sequel, V: The Final Battle. Her guest roles spanned numerous series such as Appointment with Adventure, The Defenders, and St. Elsewhere, among others.
Patterson passed away at the age of 90 due to complications from a broken hip. Her contributions to stage and screen have left a lasting legacy in the world of entertainment.
