Holly Marie Combs began her acting journey with minor roles before achieving significant recognition in the television drama "Picket Fences," which premiered in 1992. Portraying Kimberly, Holly captivated audiences for four seasons, earning critical praise and a Young Artist Award for her performance. Following the show's conclusion, she continued to pursue television films while balancing her professional life with her marriage. However, in 1997, Holly experienced personal turmoil when she divorced Bryan Travis Smith, prompting her to seek more substantive acting opportunities.

In 1998, a conversation with her close friend Shannen Doherty opened the door to a transformative role. Holly auditioned for a new series centered around three sister witches who combat evil forces.
