Yukiko Todoroki
Biography
Yukiko Todoroki (轟 夕起子 Todoroki Yukiko; born September 11, 1917 – passed away May 11, 1967) was a prominent actress from Japan. Her birth name was Tsuruko Nishiyama. She gained recognition through her performances with the Takarazuka Revue, where she was known by her stage name, Toruko, which translates to Turquoise or Turk. Yukiko was born in Shinbori, a district in Azabu-ku, Tokyo.
Throughout her life, Yukiko had two marriages with notable film directors, Masahiro Makino and Koji Shima. She was also the mother of Masayuki Makino, who serves as the principal of the Okinawa Actors School, nurturing the next generation of talent. Additionally, her lineage includes her granddaughter, Anna Makino, who was formerly a member of the idol group Super Monkey's.
Yukiko Todoroki's contributions to the performing arts, particularly in the Takarazuka Revue, left a lasting impact on Japanese theatre. Her family legacy continues to thrive in the entertainment industry, showcasing her enduring influence.
