James Patrick Buckley, born on August 14, 1987, in Croydon, England, is a versatile English comedian, actor, musician, and YouTuber. He is particularly recognized for his portrayal of Jay Cartwright in the acclaimed E4 sitcom, The Inbetweeners, which won a BAFTA award.

Growing up in Croydon, Buckley attended Thornton School, where he discovered his passion for performing through participation in school productions. His enthusiasm for the arts led him to enroll in a weekend stage school at the age of seven. By the time he turned 11, Buckley had landed his first professional roles in notable West End productions such as Whistle Down the Wind and Les Misérables. He also transferred to The Chafford School during this period. However, Buckley has expressed that he found little interest in traditional schooling and did not bother to collect his GCSE results.
