Biography
Anouk Teeuwe, known simply as Anouk, is a celebrated Dutch singer-songwriter born on April 8, 1975, in The Hague. Her musical journey was inspired by her mother, a blues vocalist, which ignited her passion for music from an early age. A pivotal moment in her career came when she connected with Barry Hay, the frontman of the legendary band Golden Earring, through her former husband, Edwin Jansen. Recognizing her potential, Hay penned several songs for Anouk, including the notable track "Mood Indigo."
Anouk's debut album, *Together Alone*, hit the shelves in October 1997 and quickly became a commercial success, establishing her as a prominent figure in the Dutch music scene. Her follow-up album, *Urban Solitude*, was released in November 1999, further solidifying her reputation.
In March 2001, she presented *Lost Tracks*, a collection of acoustic renditions and B-sides featuring collaborations with artists like Sarah Bettens of K's Choice and The Anonymous Mis. The album *Graduated Fool* followed in November 2002, and in 2004, she unveiled *Hotel New York*.
In 2007, Anouk collaborated with producer Glen Ballard on the album *Who's Your Momma*, and in 2009, she released *For Bitter or Worse*, showcasing her evolution as an artist. Throughout her career, Anouk has garnered numerous awards and accolades, affirming her status as one of the Netherlands' most influential musicians.
