Steve J. Harris, born on December 3, 1965, in Chicago, Illinois, is a distinguished American actor known for his versatile roles across film and television. He gained significant recognition for portraying Eugene Young in the acclaimed legal drama "The Practice." Harris's filmography includes notable appearances in movies such as "Quarantine," "Diary of a Mad Black Woman," "Bringing Down the House," "The Rock," "The Mod Squad," and "Minority Report." Additionally, he lent his voice to the character Ethan Bennett in the animated series "The Batman."

Harris's television credits extend to popular series such as "Law & Order" and a recurring role on "Homicide: Life on the Street." He is also the elder brother of fellow actor Wood Harris. Raised in a family where his mother, Mattie, was a housewife, and his father, John, worked as a bus driver, Harris attended St. Joseph High School in Westchester, Illinois, a private institution known for nurturing future basketball players.

He pursued his passion for acting by earning a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Arts from Northern Illinois University and later a Master of Fine Arts in theater from the University of Delaware's Professional Theater Training Program.
