Clarence Alfred Gilyard Jr. (December 24, 1955 – November 23, 2022) was a multifaceted American actor, author, and educator whose career spanned several decades in film, television, and theater. With a dynamic presence, Gilyard captivated audiences through a variety of memorable roles.
He gained notable recognition for his portrayal of Conrad McMasters, the loyal private investigator on the beloved legal drama *Matlock*, which aired from 1989 to 1993 alongside Andy Griffith. Gilyard also played significant parts in the *Left Behind* film series as Pastor Bruce Barnes, showcasing his versatility in dramatic roles. In the iconic 90s series *Walker, Texas Ranger*, he starred as James "Jimmy" Trivette, the partner to Chuck Norris's character, further solidifying his status in action television.
