Krystyna Janda, born on December 18, 1952, in Starachowice, Poland, is an acclaimed actress renowned for her impactful performances in both film and theater. She gained significant recognition in the West through her collaborations with celebrated director Andrzej Wajda, earning praise for her roles in landmark films such as *Man of Marble* (Człowiek z marmuru, 1976) and *Man of Iron* (Człowiek z żelaza, 1981).

A notable highlight of Janda's career came in 1982 when she starred in Ryszard Bugajski's *Przesłuchanie* (Interrogation). The film, however, did not see the light of day until 1989, following the end of communist rule in Poland. Despite this delayed premiere, Janda's portrayal was met with critical acclaim, leading her to win the Best Actress award at the Cannes Film Festival and the Polish Film Festival in 1990.
