Leïla Bekhti
Biography
Leïla Bekhti, a talented French-Algerian actress, was born on March 6, 1984, in Issy-les-Moulineaux, France. She is celebrated for her remarkable performance in the 2010 film Tout Ce Qui Brille, which earned her the César Award for Most Promising Actress the following year. Bekhti's cinematic journey began after she met actor Tahar Rahim on the set of Jacques Audiard’s critically acclaimed film A Prophet in 2007. The couple married in 2010 and are proud parents to five children.
Coming from an Algerian family with roots in Sidi Bel Abbès, Leïla was raised in Bagneux and is the youngest of three siblings. During her high school years, she developed an interest in acting, often perusing Casting magazine for potential opportunities. After completing her literary baccalaureate with a focus on theater at Maurice-Genevoix high school, she briefly pursued an art therapy course before committing to acting.
Her breakthrough came in 2005 when she landed a significant role as Yasmine in Kim Chapiron’s film Sheitan. This was followed by appearances in the TV film Harkis and the ensemble cast of Paris, Je T’Aime. Leïla showcased her versatility in various genres, participating in over fifty projects in film and television. With a captivating presence and diverse roles, she continues to be a prominent figure in contemporary cinema.
