Richard Linklater, born on July 30, 1960, is a renowned American filmmaker celebrated for his exploration of suburban life and the nuances of time's passage in his work. His influence in the film industry was recognized in 2015 when he was named one of Time magazine's 100 most influential people in the world.

Linklater's filmography is diverse, encompassing a range of genres and styles. He gained early acclaim with his cult classic comedies, such as *Slacker* (1990) and *Dazed and Confused* (1993). He is perhaps best known for the *Before* trilogy, which includes the romantic films *Before Sunrise* (1995), *Before Sunset* (2004), and *Before Midnight* (2013).
