Biography

Tomas von Brömssen, born on May 8, 1943, in Örgryte, Gothenburg, is a renowned Swedish actor celebrated for his diverse roles in film, television, and theatre. He gained widespread recognition for portraying Herbert, the somewhat aimless son of a scrap dealer, in the beloved TV series Albert & Herbert, a show that solidified his status as one of Sweden's cherished actors.

After completing his studies at Statens scenskola in Malmö, where he graduated in 1969, von Brömssen launched his career with Unga Teatern in Malmö. He made early television appearances, notably in Hemkomsten. In the 1970s, he returned to Gothenburg, becoming a key figure at both the Gothenburg City Theatre and Folkteatern. The 1980s saw him frequently appear in revues, including his own successful production, Tomas' revue, staged at the Liseberg Theatre.

In addition to his theatrical achievements, von Brömssen boasts a notable film career, featuring in titles such as Mannen från Mallorca (1984) and Mitt liv som hund (1985). He garnered a Guldbagge for Best Male Lead for Bo Widerberg's Lust och fägring stor (1995) and received a nomination for his performance in Ormens väg på hälleberget (1986).

Recognized as a vital cultural figure in Gothenburg, von Brömssen was named Göteborg Citizen of the Year in 1995. His versatility has endeared him to audiences on both stage and screen, with appearances in series such as Saltön (2005, 2007, 2010) and Från regnormarnas liv (1998).
