Hiroyuki Sanada (真田 広之, Sanada Hiroyuki), originally named Hiroyuki Shimosawa (下澤 廣之, Shimosawa Hiroyuki), was born on October 12, 1960, in Tokyo, Japan. He began his career with aspirations of becoming a martial arts film star, training rigorously at Sonny Chiba’s Japan Action Club. Sanada initially gained recognition for his performances in various action films during the late 1970s and early 1980s.
