Biography
Don S. Davis, born on August 4, 1942, in Aurora, Missouri, was a multifaceted American actor, artist, and military veteran who left his mark on both the performing arts and visual arts. Initially embarking on his career as a theater professor, Davis found his calling in acting, where he garnered widespread recognition for his portrayal of General George Hammond in the beloved sci-fi series Stargate SG-1, which aired from 1997 to 2007. He also captivated audiences as Major Garland Briggs in the iconic series Twin Peaks from 1990 to 1991.
Davis's filmography includes notable appearances in several movies, such as A League of Their Own (1992), The Fan (1996), The 6th Day (2000), and the posthumously released Far Cry (2008). His performances often showcased authority figures and military roles, a reflection of his real-life background as a captain in the U.S. Army.
Beyond his acting career, Davis was also an accomplished painter and sculptor, demonstrating his creative talents in multiple mediums.
