Joanna C. Going, born on July 22, 1963, in Washington, D.C., is a distinguished American actress celebrated for her versatile performances across film and television. The eldest of six siblings, Joanna grew up in Newport, Rhode Island, in a family shaped by her mother, Lorraine M. Going, a police dispatcher, and her father, John Burke Going, a lawyer and state assemblyman. After completing her education at Rogers High School in 1981, she pursued her passion for acting at Emerson College for two years before honing her skills at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts.
Joanna's career took flight in the early 1990s, and she gained recognition for her roles in notable television series such as "The Last of Us," "The Crown," and "Bates Motel," showcasing her ability to embody complex characters. Her film credits include the critically acclaimed "The Weight of Water" and "The Art of Getting By."
Beyond her acting achievements, Joanna's childhood home, the Isaac Bell House—a stunning Shingle Style structure built in 1883—stands as a National Historic Landmark and is now preserved as a museum by the Preservation Society of Newport County.
