David Hyde Pierce
Biography
David Hyde Pierce, born on April 3, 1959, in Saratoga Springs, New York, is a distinguished American actor, director, and producer celebrated for his iconic role as Dr. Niles Crane on the NBC sitcom *Frasier*, which aired from 1993 to 2004. His brilliant performance earned him four Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series, a remarkable feat that makes him the only actor to secure four consecutive wins in this category. He honed his craft at the Yale School of Drama, earning a Master of Fine Arts degree in 1984. His theatrical journey began with numerous off-Broadway performances, culminating in his Broadway debut in *The Heidi Chronicles* in 1989.
Following *Frasier*, Pierce maintained a strong presence in television and film, appearing in series such as *The Good Wife*, *The Good Fight*, and *Veep*, along with films like *Wet Hot American Summer* and *A Bug’s Life*. Beyond acting, he has directed episodes for multiple series and produced notable projects.
