David Lynn Selby, born on February 5, 1941, is a versatile American actor renowned for his contributions to film, television, and theater. Selby gained widespread recognition for his portrayal of Quentin Collins in the classic ABC soap opera Dark Shadows, a role he inhabited from 1968 until the show concluded in 1971, and later reprised in an audio revival. His compelling performances have made him a memorable figure in the realm of daytime television.
In addition to his work on Dark Shadows, Selby is celebrated for his role as Richard Channing in the popular CBS primetime soap Falcon Crest, where he played the character from 1982 to 1990. Richard, the complex and often conflicted son of Angela Channing, portrayed by Jane Wyman, showcased Selby's ability to convey both villainy and depth, further establishing him as a prominent actor in the soap opera genre.
