Vanessa Redgrave
Biography
Vanessa Redgrave CBE, born on January 30, 1937, is a distinguished English actress and passionate political activist. She gained significant recognition in 1961 for her portrayal of Rosalind in Shakespeare's comedy *As You Like It* with the Royal Shakespeare Company. Over her extensive career, Redgrave has graced the stages of London's West End and Broadway, participating in more than 35 productions. Her remarkable performances earned her the Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Revival for *The Aspern Papers* in 1984 and a Tony Award for Best Actress in a Play for her role in the 2003 revival of *Long Day's Journey into Night*. She also received Tony nominations for her work in *The Year of Magical Thinking* and *Driving Miss Daisy*.
In addition to her stage success, Redgrave's film career is equally illustrious. She is a six-time Academy Award nominee, winning the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her captivating performance in *Julia* (1977). Her other nominations came from films such as *Morgan: A Suitable Case for Treatment* (1966), *Isadora* (1968), *Mary, Queen of Scots* (1971), *The Bostonians* (1984), and *Howards End* (1992). Notable films in her repertoire include *A Man for All Seasons* (1966), *Blowup* (1966), *Camelot* (1967), *The Devils* (1971), *Murder on the Orient Express* (1974), *Prick Up Your Ears* (1987), *Mission: Impossible* (1996), *Atonement* (2007), *Coriolanus* (2011), and *The Butler* (2013).
