Daisuke Katō (加東 大介, Katō Daisuke), born on February 18, 1911, and passing away on July 31, 1975, was a prominent Japanese actor renowned for his extensive film career, featuring in more than 150 movies. He is perhaps best remembered for his roles in several iconic works by celebrated director Akira Kurosawa, including his portrayal of the steadfast ally Shichiroji in the epic film Seven Samurai. Katō's talent extended to other significant Kurosawa films such as Rashomon and Yojimbo, where he played the memorable character Inokichi, known as the "wild pig." His impressive body of work also includes key performances in Ikiru, as well as in Hiroshi Inagaki's acclaimed Samurai Trilogy and the historical drama Chushingura.
