Biography

Joseph G. "Joe" Grifasi, born on June 14, 1944, in Buffalo, New York, is a distinguished American character actor celebrated for his work across film, television, and theater. Before embarking on his acting career, Grifasi served in the U.S. Army, which preceded his formal training at the Yale School of Drama. Over the years, he has made a significant impact in the entertainment industry, contributing to more than 50 films, including notable titles such as Presumed Innocent, The Deer Hunter, Beaches, and Natural Born Killers. His impressive filmography also features hits like Batman Forever, The Flamingo Kid, and Splash.

On television, Grifasi has showcased his versatility through memorable roles in series such as The Bronx is Burning, where he portrayed legendary baseball player Yogi Berra, and 61*, where he took on the role of Phil Rizzuto. His work includes appearances in acclaimed shows like Law & Order, ER, and Roseanne.
