Jason Bernard
Biography
Jason Bernard (May 17, 1938 – October 16, 1996) was a prominent American actor known for his dynamic performances in both film and television.
Born in Chicago, Illinois, Bernard first garnered attention for his leading role as Jim Willis in the pilot episode of the acclaimed series The White Shadow. He became a familiar face on television throughout the 1980s, notably portraying Inspector Marquette on Cagney & Lacey from 1982 to 1983, and appearing as Preston Wade in Days of Our Lives the same year. His memorable portrayal of Judge Willard's rival in the inaugural season of Night Court showcased his comedic talent. Bernard's breakout role came in the 1983 NBC miniseries V, where he played Caleb Taylor, a character he reprised in the 1984 sequel, V: The Final Battle. In the 1990s, he took on the role of Mr. Paul Bracken, the boss in the Fox comedy series Herman's Head.
In film, Bernard made his debut with a cameo in Death Wish and secured his first significant role in the 1974 film Thomasine & Bushrod. His impressive filmography includes notable appearances in Car Wash, WarGames, No Way Out, While You Were Sleeping, and Blue Thunder. Additionally, he lent his voice to video games, featuring as Captain William Eisen in the Wing Commander series.
Throughout his career, Bernard made guest appearances on various shows, including Starsky & Hutch, The Jeffersons, and Murder, She Wrote. He played the blind musician Tyrone Wattell in the film All of Me and concluded his career with a role as Judge Marshall Stevens in Liar Liar, released in 1997.
