Ilja Prachař (April 30, 1924 – August 10, 2005) was a prominent Czech actor and playwright whose contributions to theater and film have left a lasting impact. Born in Malenovice near Zlín to František and Ludmila Prachař, he was the middle child in a family deeply engaged in the arts; his younger brother Kamil also became a theater actor. Prachař's artistic journey began with the Army Art Ensemble's drama group from 1945 to 1947, followed by stints at the Workers' Theater in Zlín and the Ostrava Theater.

From 1954, he became a fixture at the S. K. Neumann Theater in Prague and later at the Vinohrady Theatre, where he performed until 1990. He gained widespread recognition for his portrayal of the miserly landowner Trautenberk in the beloved television series "Krkonošské pohádky." In addition to acting, Prachař was a playwright and screenwriter, earning the State Prize in 1951 for his play "Hádajú se o rozumné."
