Paul Verhoeven, born on July 18, 1938, is a celebrated Dutch filmmaker known for his provocative storytelling and bold visual style. His body of work spans both the Netherlands and the United States, with a distinctive focus on themes of violence, sexuality, and social commentary. Verhoeven gained significant recognition for directing iconic American films such as RoboCop (1987), Total Recall (1990), Basic Instinct (1992), Starship Troopers (1997), and Hollow Man (2000).

In addition to his American successes, his earlier film, Turkish Delight (1973), earned the prestigious title of Best Dutch Film of the Century at the Netherlands Film Festival.
