Peggy Stewart, originally named Margaret O'Rourke, was a prominent American actress born on June 5, 1923, in the midst of Hollywood's golden age. She passed away on May 29, 2019, leaving behind a legacy primarily rooted in B-movies during the 1930s and 1940s. Stewart was part of a notable family; her sister, Patricia O'Rourke, was an Olympic swimmer, and she was married to Wayne Morris, a celebrated B-movie star and World War II hero.

Her cinematic journey began in 1937 with a role in the film *Wells Fargo*, where she appeared alongside Joel McCrea. By the early 1940s, Stewart was signed to Republic Pictures, frequently collaborating with actors like Allan Lane, Sunset Carson, and Wild Bill Elliott. She often portrayed strong, resilient heroines rather than the traditional damsel in distress. During her prolific years from 1944 to 1951, she appeared in 35 films, predominantly westerns and serials, and made notable guest appearances on popular shows like *The Cisco Kid*.

In 1949, she featured in *Ride, Ryder, Ride* alongside Jim Bannon, followed by *The Fighting Redhead* in 1950.
